Hydro, an aluminum and green energy producer, is working towards decarbonizing primary aluminum production through the use of green energy and new industrial processes. The global aluminum industry is worth around $160 billion and is expected to continue growing as the need for more lightweight metals increases as more countries urbanize. Aluminum is used heavily in the automotive and aviation sectors for its durability and lightweight properties, it also represents about 30% of the embedded carbon in a traditional internal combustion engine vehicle today.
