One area where Dish (see lead item) has been unafraid to be unconventional is its choice of spectrum. It has knit together a large number of different bands, many of them quite niche in global adoption terms (which will raise challenges in terms of device availability, but has brought the TV provider large amounts of bandwidth, often at very low cost).
