Duke Energy is one of the largest US utilities with 7.2 million US customers, and yet it consistently embraces fossil fuels and expensive options like nuclear power. This week it filed its Integrated Resources Plan for Duke Carolinas, and these trends continued. However each year Duke accedes just a little more to renewables, and this year is no different. Its preferred short term plan includes 6000 MW of solar by 2031, after it achieved 964.7 MW in 2022 and plans 1,435 MW of new solar to be working by 2028, 700 MW of which will be paired with 260 MW of storage.
