Ericsson has designed its Mobile Infrastructure Maturity Index to identify the different levels of progression for 5G networks globally, and has consequently highlighted some successful vertical use cases. The research aims to stimulate further 5G-SA adoption, and encourage policymakers to adopt 5G-friendly spectrum plans. “True value lies not in connection counts or coverage maps. The real story of 5G’s impact is written in factories, ports, mines, energy grids, logistics hubs, and research labs,” writes Ericsson in the ‘Next Wave of Mobile Innovation’ report. The report is a plea to global operators to hurry up and get on with 5G proper.
