The European Commission is under pressure from both the WiFi and cellular camps to allocate the upper 6 GHz spectrum band to their side for unrestricted use. Both sides argue this prime spectrum between 6.425 and 7.125 GHz is critical for meeting the EU’s own 2030 digital goals set out in 2024. These include the healing of digital divides, with particular emphasis on meeting the needs of rural communities and unserved, or underserved, users.
