Topsoe, a Danish based electrolyzer developer, has revealed that it has commenced construction on the world’s first industrial scale SOEC (Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell) manufacturing facility. The factory will have an initial 500 MW of manufacturing capacity in 2025 when it will become operational but it can reach 5 GW by 2030. Located in Herning, Denmark, the plant will cover 23,000 square meters, employ 150 people and manufacture enough electrolyzer to collective produce 125,000 tons of green hydrogen per annum. It seems as though there is a shift in global power when it comes to electrolyzer gigafactories.
