Allegations about Facebook’s misuse of private data have shifted firmly to the mobile world, with Apple leading the charge, and reports suggesting the social media giant enabled as many as 60 mobile device makers to access “vast amounts of its users’ personal information” without seeking explicit consent. This access came through APIs (application programming interfaces) which were offered to handset makers and operators to build user experiences which tied into Facebook services.
