Ford, SK ON, and EcoProBM have committed to investing C$1.2 billion ($900 million) in another cathode materials plant in Bécancour, Quebec, Canada, to supply Ford’s future electric vehicle ambitions. The plant will have the capacity to produce 45,000 tons of cathode active material (CAM) per year from the first half of 2026 once construction has been completed. Local and central governments within Canada will provide C$644 million for the project due to the addition of an expected 345 manufacturing jobs at the plant, hopefully funding agencies have learnt from the Stellantis debacle and the promised funds go through with minimal friction.
