Germany has announced that it will be supporting carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies further as it continues to be blind to the solutions in decarbonizing hard to abate industries. It is doing this by changing a law which previously restricted the practice, claiming now that it will need to store between 34 million and 73 million tons of CO2 per year by 2045. Economy minister Robert Habeck has said that the law will enable transportation of CO2 using roads and under the seabed, with the exception of protected marine zone areas.
