The German government has released an update to its national hydrogen strategy and the new electrolysis capacity targets included are much closer to what Rethink Energy predicted in our hydrogen forecast to 2050. The German cabinet has decided to significantly increase its ambition for green hydrogen production by 2030. The previous target of 5 GW has now been doubled to 10 GW – a value much closer to the 15 GW Rethink predicted Germany will reach by 2030. This boost in production capacity is expected to have a substantial impact along the entire value chain of the hydrogen sector.
