Swedish project developer OX2, and Finnish Bank of Åland, have jointly announced that a feasibility study into the planning and development of the Mega Green Port project at the port of Långnäs in Åland, is underway. The Åland islands represent an autonomous region located in the Baltic Sea under the sovereignty of Finland. The Mega Green Port project will have green hydrogen production at its core in addition to green derivatives like ammonia and methanol which could be used in the shipping sector.
