China’s GOTION HIGH-TECH has finalized an investment decision concerning its planned vertically integrated lithium phosphate (LxFP) battery plant in Morocco. The plant will initially operate at a capacity of 20 GWh per year from 2026, providing commercially competitive batteries to Europe’s automotive OEMs like the Volkswagen Group (the company’s largest stakeholder). Gotion claims it can bring the factory up to producing 100 GWh in the following years with sufficient demand in the region.
