E-fuels developer HIF Global has announced the first commercial shipment of 24,600 liters of synthetic gasoline from Chile to the UK for use by Porsche. The gasoline is produced in Chile using renewable hydrogen and recycled CO2, processed through a pilot plant in the Magallanes region. This does little to reduce downstream emissions and is wasting a lot of green energy to produce more of the stuff that got us here in the first place, that being global warming. Porsche, which owns a 12.5% stake in HIF, will use the e-fuel in its Experience Center driving ranges and Mobil 1 Super Cup races during Formula One grand prix weekends in Europe.
