According to a new report from GlobalData, Huawei has the best 5G RAN portfolio in the industry. Principal analyst Ed Gubbins said the RAN products of the five main vendors were evaluated based on criteria such as baseband capacity, ease of installation, radio unit product line, and technology evolution, and Huawei came out top in all categories.
Ericsson’s products came out joint first, with Huawei, for ease of installation while Nokia was joint first for its radio portfolio, especially its wide range of options and a compact form factor.
Ryan Ding, president of Huawei’s carrier business, said his firm had so far been involved in two-thirds of the 5G launches round the world, has gained 50 5G commercial contracts and shipped more than 150,000 5G base stations. He told the MWC Shanghai crowd: “Globally, 5G is gaining strong momentum in its commercial adoption. Since the first half of this year, a good number of countries, including South Korea, the UK, Switzerland, Italy and Kuwait, have commercially launched 5G networks, two-thirds of which were constructed by Huawei.
