Huawei has succeeded in taking the number one spot in the mobile infrastructure market, and third place in the smartphone space, despite being effectively barred from tier one business in the US, still the world’s second largest mobile market by revenue. If it overcame government hostility and national security fears, and gained full access to the US (and some other countries), there would be no stopping it. However, the prospect of a breakthrough device deal with AT&T, heavily reported over the holiday, has apparently fallen apart.
