LG Chem has launched a residential battery storage product line RESU in the US, entering what is already a crowded space. Battery storage is still in its infancy in terms of customer base in the US, however, high future revenue potential has drawn companies like Daimler, Tesla, Sonnen and now LG Chem to enter the market for the batteries that will power Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS). The product line announcement was unsurprising, given that RESU had recently been announced its Underwriter Labs certification.
