Renault’s electric vehicle (EV) unit – Ampere – announced on Monday that it would be using lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries for its mass-market EVs supplied by LG Energy Solutions and CATL. This further weakens the notion that Europe is going to be relying heavily on high-nickel ternary chemistries like nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) for their higher energy density into the future.
