Brazil’s Vale Base Metals has had environmental permits for two of its Brazilian mines – the Sossego Copper mine and Onca Puma nickel mine – revoked and reinstated within just a couple days, verifying Vale’s claims of a clerical error leading to the nullification of its licenses. This should have been evident from the fact that its Onca Puma nickel mine has been shut down for some time due to the unfavorable nickel price environment, meaning little could have changed in its operations to have warranted its license being revoked.
