Siloed network domains are a thing of the past. In fact, a focus on data traffic in the mobile network is also passé, Nokia CEO Justin Hotard said in his keynote speech at MWC. This is all part of Nokia’s new focus towards providing infrastructure for AI networks, a strategy that requires a whole new spin on traditional network architecture designed around “deterministic connectivity,” Hotard tells us. “Every network that has been built has been optimized around its primary workload. The dominant workload started with voice, then we had data, then video and rich media, and now we’re in the AI super cycle. The dominant workload is AI, and the network needs to evolve,” said Hotard.
