Northvolt has announced it is reassessing the feasibility of its Swedish battery cell manufacturing plant, following an assertion from a local Swedish newspaper that the project was being cancelled outright. Northvolt has since told Reuters, speaking of the feasibility review, “discussion is still ongoing, so we will return with further comments when a decision has been made”. This comes alongside reports from Handelsblatt and Manager Magazin that BMW, expected to be a key anchor customer, has cancelled a $2 billion order due to Northvolt failing to produce at agreed timelines and at desired quality.
