Even before mobile operators started embracing software defined networking, NSN was taking some steps towards an architecture which would deliver resources dynamically where required, in order to maximize efficiency and flexibility. The highlight of its Liquid Net strategy is Liquid Apps, unveiled a year ago, which delivers content from a server integrated with the base station. The vendor has signed a new partnership with Chinese content and application delivery provider, ChinaCache. It was widely rumored that NSN’s partner would be Saguna Networks, which specializes in caching and pushing out content close to the user, to save backhaul and core network strain and potentially support personalization.
