NTT claims to have improved autonomous drone operation with an AI inferencing chip, designed to process 4K video in real time at an order of magnitude lower power consumption than currently available alternatives. The company asserts that this has been achieved through the deployment of its large-scale integration (LSI) technology, a term that has been used since the 1970s to describe chips that incorporate ever more functions on a single die in order to increase efficiency, cut latency and reduce energy consumption.
