Utilities in Ontario have introduced an ultra-low overnight tariff for EV users set at just 2.4 cents (c$) per kWh, low enough to fully recharge a 75 kWh battery for less than c$2. This would give a vehicle with a range of 250 miles a fuel efficiency of less than 1 cent per mile. This rate is 67% lower than the current off-peak rate while the new peak rate will cost customers 10x. The Ontario Energy board expects the tariff change to result in an average decrease in energy costs to be c$14 per month.
