Orsted has teamed up with Ta San Shang Marine to construct the first ever Taiwan-flagged vessel dedicated to the country’s nascent offshore wind industry. With vessels providing a bottleneck for market growth across the globe, this investment is a sign of increased confidence that Taiwan could be the center for offshore wind in the Asia Pacific Region. Through a 15-year charter contract, the build-for-purpose service operation vessel (SOV) will be delivered by Ta Shan Shang in early 2022 to coincide with the launch of Orsted’s Greater Changhua offshore wind farms.
