While polysilicon prices have been creeping up for several months now, they are still only up 14% from the lowest point this year. Even if the polysilicon price rises further, say to $15 in November, this will still be a little over a third of November 2022’s price. However, this may not even occur as October output from the Chinese industry is expected (by the Silicon Industry Branch) to reach 150,000 tons, up from 100,000 tons in January, and 50,000 tons in January 2022. Potential demand increases are far outweighed by an even vaster pipeline of polysilicon expansions held in abeyance pending new demand.
