The solar squeeze of 2021 will be ended by a surge of new polysilicon production capacity coming online in the next two years, according to new research from Rethink Energy. In its Polysilicon Manufacturing forecast to 2030, it outlines how fears that we may have passed the trough of solar costs in the buildup the pandemic will soon be replaced by record prices and a production capacity of nearly 1,000 GW. “2022 will be the second and last year of the polysilicon shortage,” writes the report lead author Andries Wantenaar.
