The Port of Oslo has launched a new shore power facility for cruise ships, a significant step towards its goal of becoming the world’s first emission-free city. Inaugurated on September 24, 2024, the facility allows cruise ships to connect to shore power, reducing emissions during their stays. Supported by NOK 27.5 million from ENOVA, the plant’s total cost was NOK 65 million. The system, tested since May, aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80% over the next few years.
