Qualcomm, Intel and others have demonstrated 5G New Radio (NR) modems both for sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) bands for over a year now and have commercial roadmaps to launch both types of modem, and combinations. But Qualcomm – much of whose success over the years in the space-constrained handset market has rested on its integration skills – has gone a step further and announced a full RF/modem module.
