Irish utility ESB has announced plans to convert its Moneypoint coal plant to a renewable energy hub featuring a 1.4 GW floating offshore wind farm. The ‘Green Atlantic @ Moneypoint’ project will be developed in two phases by ESB and Equinor after an Irish offshore wind partnership was signed in 2019. First power from the wind farm is currently expected for 2028, with a total cost amounting to over €2 billion. UK-based investment company Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure will acquire a 49% stake in four onshore wind farms in the US with a combined capacity of 596 MW.
