Ericsson and Airtel trial rural 5G in India Ericsson and Airtel have conducted rural 5G trials in the village of Bhaipur Bramanan village on the outskirts of Delhi, aiming towards provision of fixed wireless access (FWA), as well as enhanced mobile broadband. This achieved over 200Mbps throughput on a 3GPP compliant 5G FWA device at a distance of more than 10 kilometers from the test site. At the same time, a commercially available 5G smartphone connected to the test network witnessed more than 100Mbps beyond the 10km range.
