EU removes planning obligations to boost small cell deployment The European Commission has acted to accelerate 5G small cell adoption across the EU’s 27 member states by exempting relevant antenna installations from planning permission requirements. The EU’s Commissioner for the Internal Market has called 5G networks “a pillar of socio-economic development” critical to COVID-19 recovery efforts and that unnecessary administrative obstacles should be removed.
