Kazatomprom, Kazakhstan’s uranium miner and nuclear fuels company, also the world’s largest uranium miner, has disclosed its first quarter uranium production figures. The company reported a slight increase compared to the same period last year, with its production guidance for 2024 remaining unaltered. In the first quarter of 2024, Kazatomprom produced 5077 tU (metric tons of mined uranium), up from 4744 tU in 2023, marking a 7% year-on-year increase. In 2022, Kazakhstan accounted for more than 21,000 tU. Pretty much every year in recent history, the Central Asian state is responsible for upwards of 40% of the supply of mined uranium.
