Shipping groups MiNo Marine and 2nd Wind Marine have teamed up to build two Jones Act compliant vessels for use in the US offshore wind market. While the design may not be the most conventional approach, these bespoke barges could provide an interim solution to the vast shortage of vessels required for the early build out of offshore wind in the US. This week, 2nd Marine release its MiNO Marine SuperFeeder design for the turbine installation vessel. Using naval architecture from MiNO, 2nd Marine will finance, build and operated two bespoke jack-up vessels which will be 124.5 meters in length and 40 meters wide, with a hull depth of 5 meters.
