T-Mobile USA is upping the pace of its 4G roll-out as it plays catch-up with Verizon and AT&T. It has been deploying LTE in its AWS spectrum, in a complex process which involves transferring 3G from AWS to refarmed PCS frequencies. But for cost effective wide area coverage, it needs lower frequency bands, and it will now achieve this by overlaying LTE on its 2G network, as well as bringing 700MHz spectrum, recently acquired from Verizon, into play.
