Stellantis said this week it has strengthened its value chain for electric vehicle battery production by signing a Memorandum of Understanding for battery grade nickel and cobalt sulphate products from the NiWest Nickel-Cobalt Project from GME Resources from Western Australia. NiWest will produce 90,000 tons per annum of battery grade nickel and cobalt sulphate and AU$30 million has been invested into drilling, metallurgical test work and development studies. Stellantis has previously obtained a significant supply of low-carbon lithium hydroxide from Vulcan Energy and Controlled Thermal Resources in Europe and North America, respectively.
