The IEA has published a new report stating that battery manufacturing capacity, mostly for electric vehicles (EVs) reached 2.5 TWh in 2023, up by 780 GWh from 2022, with 9 TWh of production capacity possible for 2030 if all expansion plans are followed through on, with some 70% of the total already operational or otherwise committed. According to the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA), China installed 1,239 MW / 5,130.8 MWh of new energy storage in the month of April 2024.
