Ukraine is to host a 500 MW solar portfolio backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Goldbeck Solar Investment, with some facilities due to be built as far as three to five years in the future – but with the first such facility to begin construction in Q3 2024. Russia’s original missile campaign to degrade the Ukrainian grid earlier in the war only targeted substations, possibly so that the threat of targeting power stations themselves could be used to disincentivize Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure targets such as the Kerch bridge to Crimea.
