Vestas has announced that it will release a new turbine in the coming months, to compete with the giant model released by competitors Siemens Gamesa and General Electric (GE). Vestas’ current largest turbine is the 10 MW V164/V174, compared to GE’s 13 MW Haliade X and Siemens Gamesa’s 15 MW 14-222 DD. The new turbine, which will focus on offshore wind, will be announced either at the end of this year or the start of 2021, with commercial installations expected by the mid-2020s.
