The Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC) has been founded by Toyota, which has also signed up Intel, Ericsson, NTT Docomo, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, and Denso as supporters for the project of developing new edge-computing standards for the connected car. This is a significant attempt by an automaker to unify its connected car supply chain around security standards, something the industry has been calling for, and cut the costs of data management for Toyota.
