China has admitted to the US that its hackers were responsible for the recent Volt Typhoon cyber-attacks and tacitly threatens to wreak further havoc on US infrastructure and telecoms systems. US operators are ill-prepared for any cyberattacks, let alone such powerful targeted attacks. It could be time to reimagine telco security.
