One story that almost sneaked past us was the fact that Vodafone has managed to outbid other mobile operators for the Spanish ISP Ya.com. We feel the deal presages a quadruple play move by Vodafone within the year. Vodafone continues to build up fixed line stakes in all of the largest markets in Europe. It has its own German Arcor unit, plus access to 2m-plus broadband lines in France where its mobile arm SFR – held jointly with Vivendi – owns 40% of the Neuf Cegetel IPTV operator. This may enable it to offer a quadruple play to rival that of Orange, soon. Vodafone also has broadband distribution deals with both Fastweb in Italy and British Telecom in the UK.…
