Ericsson has at last assembled a coherent multiscreen video package by adding content delivery to video processing in MediaFirst, almost two years after announcing the first operator trials of the platform. MediaFirst is its next generation platform for IPTV, cable and over-the-top operators, a replacement for Mediaroom. Its list of new features highlights how much more important mobile viewing has become since Ericsson acquired Mediaroom from Microsoft in 2013 as the basis of its move into the TV market.
