Apple has been gradually shifting towards OLED screens for its devices, having clung for far longer than its rivals to LCD technology. Reports in South Korea’s Electronic Times suggested that Apple would use OLED displays in all its new iPhones from next year, which would be a faster migration than previously anticipated. The reports drove down shares in major LCD suppliers to Apple, such as Japan Display and Sharp, though they were positive for Universal Display and other OLED makers.
