India has closed the world’s largest renewable-plus-storage tender to date, which has achieved the world’s lowest “peak clean electricity tariff” at $0.057 per kWh – a price which continues to make coal not just environmentally, but economically unfeasible throughout the country. SECI, the Solar Energy Corporation of India, has awarded 1200 MW of solar+storage projects to be developed by two Indian developers; 300 MW for Renew Power and 900 MW for Greenko Energy Holdings. The tender required 600 MW assured supply at peak hours so that’s five hours meaning 3000 MWh available.
