Sometimes large Chinese manufacturers can be accused of trying to make the “existing” technology cheaper, but not actually trying to “change” the technology. This is something that has been said of flat TV screens, and perhaps existing crystalline silicon solar panels, and you might think it would also be said of EV batteries. But EVs are unlikely to go down that route while batteries continue to contain the rare metal Cobalt, and this week Svolt unveiled its first cobalt-less battery for production.
