Wood Mackenzie this week came out with a forecast which suggests that only 323 million electric vehicles will be on the roads by 2040. It slowly dawned on us that this was one of the worst low-ball estimates we had ever seen, and that not only does it ignore the coronavirus, it pretends to confirm that the coronavirus has slowed down the move to EVs. It has clearly not done its homework and this is a severe dereliction of duty. We are not fans of Wood Mackenzie, feeling that as a consultancy which constitutes a leading brand in this market, it is listened to and should not be told what to think by its oil clients.
