Floating solar has emerged as a noteworthy fraction of Greece’s renewable energy pipeline, with 815 MW of project proposals having been announced this week by various parties. PPC, the traditional national utility which retains three-quarters of the electricity market, is planning 50 MW of floating solar via its renewables subsidiary, as part of plans to install over 1 GW of solar in total by 2024. InterPhoton Investment has considered a 500 MW development. Terna Energy, a member of the Greek conglomerate Gek Terna Group, has applied to the grid regulator for three large-scale floating solar projects at three artificial reservoirs, totalling 265 MW.
