Celeno is in the process of being integrated into Renesas and therefore disappearing from our screens for good, following the Israeli WiFi silicon vendor’s recent takeover by the Japanese semiconductor manufacturer. Celeno’s famed WiFi chipsets will now live on under a new brand and a new identity, likely with new target markets too, with its new parent company being one of the world’s largest automotive silicon firms. Since bursting onto the scene in 2010, Celeno propelled to prominence, but has become an increasingly distant voice in recent years, as rivals like Quantenna in the USA began to soak up WiFi deals.
