So far, the case for Open RAN as a platform for greenfield operators has been made by Rakuten Mobile and Dish Network, but a third new entrant is set to launch commercial services by the end of this year. This is Drillisch 1&1 in Germany, and its roll-out will be important to Open RAN in general, and Rakuten in particular, for two reasons.
