French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to China, which concluded on Saturday, is his third. The other two were in 2018 and 2019 – simpler times. Macron was accompanied by between fifty and sixty senior executives from sectors ranging from industry to agriculture to cosmetics and tourism. The biggest single announcement must be Airbus’ $20 billion sale of 160 commercial aircraft to China Aviation Supplies, as well as a new production line to be built in China. Unlike Macron’s previous visits, this time the main topic was clearly energy. The Airbus deal also involves 50 helicopters sold to GDAT for use in energy project development.
